Perth Day 2

Posted: 9/8/2008

Hi All

Great to see a few people reading the blog and putting some replies in. Having your support is fantastic.

Another busy day today while we all settle into the day to day rythm of training camp.

This morning was an early ride as we had other things on all afternoon. All the team split up into different abilities. I chose to try and head out with a local group. We met at 7am in North Perth and headed out. There were 2 groups and I joined the fast group of about 25 bikes. All was going well for the first 20km or so on the flat but the next 5km in the hills killed me. I worked hard and kept the group in sight but ran out of gas as we hit more flat terrain and was unable to get back onto the group. I was stranded on my own in Fremantle. I tried to find a flat way back to town and also decided to go and Visit an old friend Liam. I called him and managed to navigate my way to his place where he very generously loaned me a wireless modem to get online at the hotel while I am in Perth. Thanks Liam and thanks to the phone company he works for ACN.

I wound up getting home with about 80km on the clock and just in time for our drugs in sport briefing. I am one of the presenters on the video so as you would expect there were some very complimentary words about how good I looked with make up on.

I also caught up with the APC medical, nutrition and recovery staff. Our team physio also had a bit of a play with my knee.

Tomorrow is our first track session here in perth, I am pretty excited about it as I have been feeling good on the road and it will be interesting how things feel on the track.

talk tomorrow.

Hey mate,
Good to hear the knee is feeling better and that you're having a good time. I hope the track times are good too. Say hi to Jane.

You should ask Dan what he's been having for breakfast lately - we met up yesterday morning for some hills and he smashed me!
Best wishes,
Simon
