Here I am in Beijing

Hi All
Well here I am in the Paralympic village. It has been a busy but good day. I am sitting here in a little internet cafe area (one of many) with some of the swim team. I just learned that there are free hair cuts in the main village area that I haven't been to yet. I knew it was a silly idea to borrow Dave's clippers and get Penni to cut my hair for the first time. Oh well she did a good job anyway.
Today has been a busy day. We arrived at the village about 11:30pm and then had a bit of dinner. I saw an old skiing friend from Germany who is here as a shooter. It was the first conversation I have had in german since I stopped skiing. A bit rusty but not too bad. Breakfast was at 7:30 then it was on the 8:30am bus to the velodrome. The track is very impressive like most of the games facilities. It has a bit different character to the track in perth A more open bend and shorter straights. We shared the track for training with Ireland and NZ.
Back to the village for lunch then meeting including security briefing from the Australian Police, classification session to make sure I am in the right class, Cycling team meeting and then trying to get online with my own computer. The wireless signal is quite weak in my room and I have had some problems getting my email to work. All sorted now though.
It is now after 9pm and I really need to get to bed. The next few days will be about getting up early. My Pursuit race next Tuesday will be a very early start so I want to make sure that I will be ready to get up early and perform at the start of the day.
So I will be trying to update daily now. So keep reading and I will try to keep you up to date with it all.
Thanks for reading
MM

I have been following your journey for the last 12 months or so now after initially having some contact with Penni about Australian Nappy Network stuff. I just wanted to wish you the best of luck at the games and say that following all that has happened over the last year or so I think that you are absolutely inpirational and whatever the outcome of your races is you should be very proud. Your strength and determination is legendary! Good luck!

Yes my races should be on TV. There is a good chance of them being shown live. Check out the latest news link up on the left of the page for my exact race times and details of the ABC 1 and 2 coverage.
