1 year anniversary

Hi
Today (September 29) is the one year anniversary of my surgery for Oesophageal Cancer. A lot has happened since then and most of it has been positive. Since my diagnosis last July things have been beyond my expectations. I was never confident the outcome would be positive but when I reflect on things now it's been a bumpy but still fun and certainly rewarding journey.
Today I am home looking after Matilda while Penni is at work. It is a nice sunny day and I was out riding my bike at 6am. Seeing Matilda play and be happy is a wonderful reward and makes me thankful that things have turned out well so far.
Training for the Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge is under way and will be a step up in volume from what I tried to do for the Paralympic Games. The focus for Beijing was the 3000m pursuit or about four minutes. This next event will be five days so I need to change my training program. I also need to include running and kayaking. I haven't done much in either of these disciplines in recent years.
It's nice to be home for a while and be able to spend time with my family. I am looking forward to a bit of a break over December and January and some time as a stay-at-home Dad.
