APC STATEMENT - CYCLING NOMINATIONS June 6 2008

The Australian Paralympic Committee (APC) today received from Cycling Australia a list of 18 athletes (including five pilots) they intend to nominate for selection in the 2008 Australian Paralympic Team.

Under the nomination criteria developed by Cycling Australia*, athletes not named on the list have until5pm on 11 June to lodge any appeal against non-nominationto Cycling Australia.

Following the appeals process, Cycling Australia has until 10AM on Friday, June 20 to make any amendments to its final nominations to the APC.

Today's announcement is the next step in the selection process according to Darren Peters, the Australian Paralympic Committee CEO.

"Given the past success of the Australian Paralympic Cycling team, it is a huge achievement for these 18 athletes to have reached this stage," Mr Peters said.

"However, selection comes about only at the sole discretion of the APC Board, following Cycling Australia's own nomination and appeals process.

"The APC Board will next meet on June 26 and the APC will announce the Australian Paralympic Cycling team on June 27."
