MILTON AWAITS HIS FATE

Posted:

Monday 26 May 2008: Michael Milton faces a nervous wait as the selectors for the Australian Paralympic cycling team make their choice following the final trial in Adelaide over the weekend.

Milton recorded a 'decent' time of 4:09.084 on Saturday in the 3000m Pursuit and hopes it will be enough to secure him one of the eight spots on offer.

His personal best time of 4:07.535, recorded a month ago at a trial at the velodrome in Sydney, smashed his previous best by five seconds but wasn't enough for automatic selection.

In reality, six of the eight team places have already been secured by cyclists who have recorded qualifying times. The last two team members will be selected from a group outside the official selection times.

Milton will have to wait until 6 june to find out if he is successful. That is when Cycling Australia advise the Australian Paralympic Committee about their selections.
