THROAT CANCER VS OESOPHAGEAL CANCER
Please note that THROAT CANCER is not OESOPHAGEAL CANCER. They are very different diseases. Throat cancer is generally accepted as cancer of the pharynx or larynx whereas oesophageal cancer affects the oesophagus. There are two types of cancers generally found in the oesophagus: adenocarcinoma (a tumour in the lower oesophagus near the stomach) and squamous cell carcinoma (in the upper areas of the oesophagus). In July 2007 Michael was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the oesophagus.
